Application Deadline:

Job Description & Responsibilities:

Description
Broomsedge Rod & Gun is located in Soperton, Georgia on generations-old family farms. We have thousands of acres of land, including managed food plots for birds and deer, 40 beaver ponds, and 25 lakes. The farms are a sporting paradise where we hunt duck, quail, pheasant, turkey, deer, hogs, and predators. Our land, our wildlife, and our hospitality offer an unrivaled place for our members to enjoy year-round.

Available Position: Seasonal Upland Quail Guide
We are looking for an experienced upland guide to run quail and pheasant hunts for our members and their guests. Guides with their own string of pointing and flushing dogs are strongly preferred — housing and kennel space can be made available for the right person.
This is a seasonal position running roughly October 1 through March 31, with the possibility of pre-season and post-season work for candidates who want it. The right guide will be the face of the hunt for our members: safe, unhurried, good with dogs, and good with people.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Guiding Hunts
• Guide half-day and full-day quail and pheasant hunts for members, their guests, and corporate groups.
• Handle and work pointing and flushing dogs in the field, reading dogs and terrain to put hunters on birds.
• Brief every hunting party on safety, safe zones of fire, and the day’s plan before leaving the truck.
• Enforce firearm safety at all times and be willing to stop a hunt when safety requires it.
• Adjust the pace and difficulty of the hunt to the group — seasoned shooters, first-timers, youth hunters, and older guests all hunt with us.
• Instruct and encourage newer hunters patiently and without condescension.
• Handle harvested birds properly in the field; assist with cleaning, packaging, and labeling birds for guests.

Dog Care & Kennel Work
• Feed, water, exercise, and condition dogs throughout the season.
• Keep kennels, runs, dog boxes, and trailers clean and in good order.
• Monitor dogs for injury, heat stress, dehydration, snake bite, and cut pads; administer basic field first aid and get dogs to the vet when needed.
• Maintain vaccination, worming, and treatment records.
• Work young dogs and assist with training and steadying throughout the season and, if interested, in the off-season.

Birds, Equipment & Grounds
• Assist with bird pen and flight pen care, feeding, and bird releases ahead of hunts.
• Operate and care for hunting rigs, trucks, UTVs, dog trailers, and related equipment.
• Perform basic maintenance on courses, roads, and hunting areas — mowing strips, clearing paths, checking gates and feeders.
• Assist with habitat work, food plots, and prescribed burning support as needed.
• Keep guide gear, radios, water, and first aid supplies stocked and ready.

Guest Experience
• Represent Broomsedge Rod & Gun professionally and warmly with members and their guests, many of whom return year after year.
• Communicate clearly with the lodge and management team on hunt timing, guest counts, and bird counts.
• Assist with lodge and property duties between hunts as needed.
• Maintain discretion and professionalism at all times.
