Deadline: Fri, 12/30/2022 - 12:00pm Employer: Green Diamond Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: Regional/Multiple Location Detail: Bogart, GA Meridian, MS Shelton, WA Job Description: What the job is: During this internship you will learn how a working forest is managed, below are a few examples of the kind of work you’ll gain exposure to: • Participate in forest management activities, including working with contractors who conduct harvest and silviculture activities across the area. • Help assess units, layout boundaries and conduct surveys. • Flagging boundaries, stream protection zones, property lines, wildlife retention areas, tree marking, and stream classification. • Assist with site prep program. • Conduct stocking surveys. • Use GIS and other data collection systems for harvest and inventory activities. If any of this is new to you, that’s ok, we’ll teach you everything you need to know to safely do your work. Who you will work with: Day-to-day you’ll work with our team of foresters, who will train you on everything you need to know throughout your internship. You’ll also have the opportunity to interact with other departments across the division including GIS and inventory. Where you’ll work: There will be time spent in the office, however, a considerable amount of time will be spent working in the field. Qualifications: Who you are: You have completed your first year of college and are ready to start exploring possible career options. Salary: Interns will be required to submit a secondary application near the end of the internship to be considered for the scholarship. If awarded, the scholarship will be up to $3,000.
