Overview

Rayonier has owned and cared for thousands of acres of timberlands across the United States for nearly 100 years. A recognized land, ecological and conservation manager, Rayonier is a leading timber real estate investment trust with assets located in some of the most productive softwood timber growing regions in the United States and New Zealand. Rayonier owns, leases or manages approximately 2.7 million acres of timberlands located in the U.S. South, U.S. Pacific Northwest and New Zealand.

Description

Rayonier is filling intern positions with Junior, Senior and Graduate-level students for employment during the summer of 2023 (Late May – Early August 2023).

 

Operational Interns will be exposed to field reconnaissance, mapping and inventory, GIS software, map making, photo interpretation, data recorders and field measurement techniques and tools. They may also be involved with timber sale and silvicultural planning.  Interns will also receive a well-rounded view of Rayonier operations. The operational internships are throughout our land base comprised of the following states:  Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, and Washington.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Students in their Junior, Senior year or Graduate studies
  • Degree Concentration – Forest Management
  • Each internship duration will last ten to twelve weeks. 
  • Students must provide their own transportation capable of safely navigating forest roads and housing. (Transportation costs will be reimbursed)  4 wheel drive preferred
  • Candidates should be self-motivated
  • Able to work independently in remote locations 
  • Able to endure the elements (rain, heat & uneven terrain)

Interested students should submit a resume, and transcript to Rusty Cobb, Rayonier’s Coastal Resource Unit Information Manager located in Yulee, FL via email at Rusty.cobb@rayonier.com by September 21, 2022. 

 

Rayonier representatives will be on campus Wednesday, September 21, 2022 as well as Thursday, September 22, 2022 to conduct interviews with pre-selected candidates.  Specific times will be coordinated with the college of forestry and communicated to candidates the week of September 19th.
