Deadline: Mon, 04/01/2024 - 12:00pm Employer: United States Department of the Interior NATIONAL PARK SERVICE Job Field: Wildlife Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: Georgia Location Detail: Saint Marys, Georgia Job Description: Daily beach patrol of 17 miles of undeveloped beach on Cumberland Island National Seashore searching for sea turtle crawls; identifying nesting crawls; locating nest chambers using probing techniques; data collection and entry for 1,000+ events; use of GPS units to record location information; egg collection for large scale Atlantic Coast genetics project; installation of predator deterrent screens and nest marker posts; relocating nests in danger of tidal inundation; monitoring nests during incubation and hatching; inventory hatched nests to evaluate success; identification of predator sign; implementation of predator management techniques; use of pick up trucks and UTVs; formal and informal interaction with the public relaying sea turtle conservation messaging; assisting NPS and GADNR staff with sea turtle and marine mammal stranding events Miscellaneous: Dates: May through October, start date flexible.
