Research in the Warnell Herpetology Laboratory focuses on the population, community and conservation ecology of amphibians and reptiles. Our research program is predominantly field based and is situated across Georgia, extending into North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, and Honduras. Field study sites include the Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center at Ichauway, Ft. Stewart, Coweeta Hydrologic Research Station, the Arnott Experimental Forest, the Oconee National Forest, and the Whitehall Forest in Athens. Our core facilities include a large, fully-equipped laboratory on campus, a second wet lab in the Whitehall Forest, a large array of small and medium sized mesocosms, and multiple man-made ponds dedicated to herpetological research.
