Through the continued generous support of Catherine and James Gero, the National Park Service, Schoodic Institute, and the National Park Foundation, we are seeking applications for a 10-month Environmental Science Education Fellowship. The Environmental Science Education Fellow will join a cohort with Science Communication and Science Research fellows; each working independently on discipline-specific initiatives and collaboratively on interdisciplinary work.

Start date: Monday, March 31st, 2025

End date: Friday, January 30th, 2026

The Environmental Science Education Fellow will develop and teach lessons as a part of the Schoodic Education Adventure (SEA) overnight, experiential education program, helping to develop both the STEM and emotional learning portions of the curriculum for 5th through 8th grade students. The Education Fellow will lead in-person and virtual education programs. The fellow will assist the Science Fellow with conducting field research and then incorporate this research into learning experiences. This fellow will also work closely with the Science Communication Fellow to share science stories of Acadia. In addition to facilitating SEA and Ranger programs the fellow will deliver introductory workshops on the application iNaturalist to visitors. There are additional opportunities for science communication and outreach dependent on the fellow's interests.

Job Benefits:

The fellow will be a temporary employee of Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park and earn an hourly salary ($20.25) and work 40 hours per week. Each fellowship will last for 43 weeks (~10 months). Daily and weekly work schedules may fluctuate. Work days can be up to 14 hours long. In some instances, such as intertidal work during low tide, work days may be split into morning and evening work. At times work will begin at dawn and go through dusk. Work hours will include some weekends. 

Residence is required and provided on the Schoodic Institute campus. Housing is in a private bedroom as part of a shared apartment.
