Job Description:

Positions are located within the United States Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services' Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ). They support PPQ's mission to safeguard U.S. agriculture and natural resources. You will be responsible provide program management expertise, national coordination, and scientific leadership on issues of major importance nationally.

Qualifications:

BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:

Application of techniques of specialty areas such as, but not limited to, plant pathology, microbiology, plant science, entomology, and/or malacology.

Leading, managing and/or coordinating projects, programs, or other related activities for a plant pest and/or disease program and developing plans and strategies for effective resolution.

Analytical evaluations, problem solving, and project management skills required for major long-term, multifaceted projects.

Effectively communicating orally and in writing to a diverse audience.

Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.
