Description and Essential Responsibilities


-Responsible for assigned routine and ability to cross train as needed (Areas include; Pasture, Barn, Ambassador Animal Program)

-Experience or willingness to learn ungulate hoofcare and management

-Ability to lift 55lbs unassisted, navigate uneven ground, bend over, safely drive and ride in off-road vehicles, work in all weather conditions including extreme temperatures, etc. as the job requires.

-Regular and dependable attendance

-Effective communication with Supervisor regarding professional and animal-related needs.

-Effective listening and accountability skills.

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team

-Assist Veterinary team with preventative and emergency care tactics

-Assist various GSCP teams as needed

-Willing to guide and engage tour groups for animal-related programs as needed

-Sound decision making and ability to adapt as situations arise

-Work scheduled weekends, holidays, variable work weeks as needed

-Collaborate with the AC team to create a safe, positive, compassionate, and healthy workenvironment.

Species Include but may not be limited to:
Addax, American Bison, Asian Water Buffalo, Common Eland, Grant's Zebra, Hartmann's Mountain Zebra, Impala,
Greater Kudu, Nyala, Roan Antelope, Nile Lechwe, Watusi cattle, Waterbuck, Scimitar-Horned Oryx, Ostrich, Emu.

Preferred Qualifications, Education, and Experience
-Degree in Biology, Zoology, or related field and 1+ years experience, OR 2+ years experience.

-Extensive modern practice livestock experience

-Land management experience is preferred including the use (or willingness to learn)equipment operation including but not limited to: large trucks, skid steer, tractor, etc.

-Exotic hoofstock, giraffe, and/or rhino experience is a plus

-Ability to utilize various programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.

-Detail and observation oriented with a strong affinity for up to date and accurate recordkeeping.

-Ability to inspire colleagues, guests, and volunteers.

-Ability to live within a 45-minute commute of the Park.

-Motivation to continuously grow within the position and the field; Continuing Educationopportunities will be made available. (Relevant workshops, conferences, webinars, etc. will beconsidered)
-Collaboration in collection planning inclusive of educational, conservation, and management
