Job Description:

Physically perform arboriculture practices including falling hazard trees, bucking tree material for chipping, mulching, watering, fertilizing, pruning, assisting with tree risk assessments, and other daily and seasonal tasks.

Conduct work in a range of spaces including those adjacent to paths, roads, and in densely canopied habitats.

Safely operate small and large equipment including utility vehicles, trucks, tree lifts, spray tanks, chainsaws, backpack blowers, string trimmers, and others as needed. Operation may extend for many hours at a time and over the course of several days as needed.

Maintain supplies, tools, and equipment for efficient and safe use.

Document flora species using various data collection tools, as needed.

Demonstrate ownership of assigned work by upholding maintenance standards to the highest degree.

Work alongside volunteers. This includes occasional weekends.

Communicate issues regarding infrastructure, furnishings, safety hazards, and quality of the park user experience issues via work order system, as needed.

Interact with Park users in a courteous and professional manner. Be prepared to provide accurate and pertinent information regarding MPC and the Park.

Comply with all?MPC rules, safety policies, and procedures, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

If needed, report to work outside of work hours to assist Supervisor with managing emergency park conditions.

Assist with cleanliness of office and storage spaces

Assist with trash and debris removal, as needed.

Assist with other Park Operations teams, as needed.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or related field preferred and 1 or more years of professional experience in arboriculture, plant health care, pest species management, or related field is preferred.

In lieu of preferred degree/experience combination, 2 or more years of professional experience in arboriculture, plant health care, pest species management, or related field, will be considered.

Experience of arboriculture conservation practices such as: pruning, mulching, pest management, and plant identification.

Experience in the safe operations of arboriculture conservation industry tools and equipment, including hand tools, power equipment, heavy machinery, and chainsaws.

Demonstrated success in working in a team-oriented environment, working effectively with others, and ability to work independently.

Strong written and oral communication skills; organized, highly motivated.

Experience in PC based email software such as Outlook.

Comfortable performing work tasks at heights while using proper PPE.

At times, perform work that requires the use of fall-protection, but only after full completion of MPC provided training.

Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Ability to communicate in English, Spanish a plus.

Completion of the Tree Care Industry Association Chain Saw Specialist and Chipper Operator Specialist Training program within the first 6 months of employment.

 

Miscellaneous:

Ability to perform heavy, physical labor daily in all weather conditions repeatedly throughout a workday and work week.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout a workday and work week.

Sufficient strength, stamina, and manual dexterity to operate power equipment throughout a workday, repeatedly in a work week.

Must be able to bend, crouch, repel, kneel, stand, walk and perform various types of manual labor for extended periods of time throughout the workday, repeatedly in a work week.

Salary:
Pay range is $16-19.50/hr; pay is commensurate with experience.
