Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia is seeking a student worker for a part-time position. Applicants should possess strong GIS skills and experience with ArcGIS products, as they will support spatial data management, mapping, and analysis for both research and applied projects. The role includes translating spatial data into clear maps, analyses, and visualizations to inform research and support decision-making.

Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Online

Upper-level undergraduate or graduate student with a background in Geography, Environmental Science, Ecology, Planning, or a related field

Understanding of spatial data formats, projections, and coordinate systems

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Experience with spatial analysis for environmental, ecological, or conservation projects

Familiarity with ModelBuilder, Python (ArcPy), or other GIS automation tools

Experience creating web maps, story maps, or dashboards

Basic knowledge of remote sensing or raster analysis

Familiarity with the community science platform iNaturalist
