Deadline: Mon, 05/09/2022 - 12:00pm Employer: City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Job Field: Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: Georgia Location Detail: Alpharetta Job Description: Availability between 7:30am to 6:00pm (actual shift will vary); 40 hours/week . Under the general supervision of the Camp Director, the Assistant Camp Director will be responsible for the daily operation of a summer day camp for elementary school aged children. Activity areas include indoor and outdoor games, sports, fitness activities, arts and crafts, on-site enrichment programs, and field trips, as well as group lunches and snack time. Counselors: Wills Park Summer Day Camp staff (includes arts & crafts, swimming, field trips, etc.), to provide a safe, fun, and memorable camp experience for children aged 6 to 11 years. Reports to the Summer Camp Director and/or Assistant Camp Director. A Camp Counselor would need to be available to work from May 31 – August 5th. Qualifications: Applicant must be 16 years of age or older (by the start date of orientation, May 31, 2022). A minimum of one (1) year experience working paid or volunteer in a recreational camp setting, afterschool setting, daycare facility, or related activity is preferred. Applicant must have the ability to work as a team member and coordinate with other staff in contributing to the goals of the program. Applicant must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Applicant must have exceptional communication skills. Applicant must be able to interpret policies and procedures. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of this role, with or without an accommodation. Applicant must provide their own transportation. Applicant must be able to work a flexible daytime schedule, Monday through Friday, from May 31 through August 5th. Applicant must be able to attend mandatory Camp Staff orientation/training sessions scheduled on Tuesday, May 31 – Friday, June 3. Regular and consistent attendance is required Miscellaneous: Applicant must clear a criminal background check. Applicant must pass a mandatory drug test. Hired applicants must possess a valid certificate of course completion for First Aid training that includes Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Children and Infant, first aid, and AED. This training must be from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. The City of Alpharetta will offer a CPR course during the week of camp training for all those who need this certification. Hired applicants must provide official verification as to identity and work authorization.
