Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills

Seeking positive and enthusiastic individual committed to educating and inspiring visitors, through both active and passive interpretation, about the importance of protecting the natural and cultural resources of the park.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist Interpretive Ranger by providing general natural history programs for daily visitors and curriculum related programs for school groups. Program topics may include: crabbing, coastal dynamics, conservation, invasive species, native plants, sea creatures, birds, beach walks, seining, reptiles, maritime forest, sharks, marine pollution, and sea turtles. Other responsibilities include: staffing the nature center, maintaining small number of saltwater aquariums and reptiles, advertising programs both on the park and online, improving program content, working with volunteers and interns, creating signs and flyers using Canva, helping with various resource management projects, cleaning educational facilities, and other duties as needed.

This is a full time, non-permanent field position, which usually works a forty-hour Tuesday through Saturday schedule.

Qualifications: 
A Bachelor’s Degree in science, education, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, along with working knowledge of coastal ecosystems. Enthusiasm, teaching experience, and working with people of all ages (especially kids). Ability to work independently and in a team setting. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including high heat and humidity. Must be able to stand and walk for over 1-mile, and lift up to 25 pounds. Position requires a valid driving license and a criminal background check.
