Deadline: Tue, 08/29/2023 - 12:00pm Employer: Auburn University Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: Alabama Location Detail: Auburn, AL Job Description: Description: The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment (CFWE) at Auburn University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in forest operations with an expected start date of January 2024. This is a tenure-track, 9 – month appointment, with 45% research and 45% teaching, and 10% service. We seek exceptional applicants with knowledge and experience in the areas of harvesting practices, optimization, supply chain logistics, safety, transportation, Best Management Practices (BMPs), and general forest operations practices. Applicants with knowledge of forest engineering principles, technology and equipment used in timber management, especially harvesting, and the ability to analyze efficiency and costs of forest operations are desirable. Responsibilities: The successful candidate for this position will be expected to develop 1) an internationally recognized research program by publishing in high-quality peerreviewed journals and obtaining extramural research funding and 2) interdisciplinary and multisectoral collaborations with research teams on campus and beyond with a broad range of expertise. Teaching duties include a total of 3-4 undergraduate and graduate introductory and/or subject matter specialty courses per year in forest operations. Responsibilities also include recruiting and training graduate students, undergraduate mentoring, and College, University, and professional service. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications A PhD in forestry or a related field and excellent written and interpersonal communications skills are required at the time of employment. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams and a proven track record of publishing in high-quality peerreviewed journals is required. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. A commitment to inclusion and diversity is essential. Desired Qualifications Evidence of successfully obtaining research funding and teaching at the university level is highly desired. A focus on applied research that can be directly translated to the benefit of stakeholders and the ability to build and maintain a relationship with stakeholders is strongly desired.
