Employer Texas State University Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills Position DescriptionThe Department of Biology at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in wildlife biology, terrestrial vertebrate ecology, quantitative ecology, or related field. Faculty in our undergraduate and graduate wildlife (MS) and integrative biology (PhD) programs engage in hands-on, field-oriented projects ranging from local to global scales. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally-funded research program that involves the mentoring of graduate students to complement the strengths of our 50+ member faculty and to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in support of the active wildlife biology program. Required QualificationsEarned Ph.D. in wildlife biology, ecology, or related fieldPostdoctoral experience or equivalentResearch emphasis and a record of peer-reviewed publications focused on the ecology of terrestrial vertebratesAbility to teach field-based courses in support of the undergraduate and graduate wildlife (MS) and integrative biology (PhD) programsEvidence that research integrates quantitative methods with field-based researchPreferred QualificationsRecord of grant funding to support researchHands-on experience with wildlife (terrestrial vertebrate) capture/tagging/monitoring techniques Research focused on one or more of the following subject areas: wildlife biology, vertebrate ecology, wildlife management, wildlife conservationAbility to teach experimental design and/or quantitative methods course(s) in support of our graduate programs Job Field: Fisheries Forestry Parks, Recreation and Tourism Water and Soil Resources Wildlife GIS/Technology Policy/Administrative Community Forestry & Arboriculture Other Job Type: Full Time Location Detail: San Marcos, TX Salary: This position is subject to the availability of funds.
