Job Description:

1. Teach up to six courses per year (10-week quarter system) across all levels in the CQS curriculum, with a specific focus on modernizing our calculus and environmental statistics courses. Specific teaching responsibilities will consider both the candidate’s expertise and the curricular needs of the program.

2. Advance educational scholarship in the teaching program with emphasis on innovative pedagogy and attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This may include contributing to the growing community of pedagogical researchers within the College.

3. Play an active service role at the Unit, College, and University level, for example, by engaging in shared governance, serving on key committees, contributing to the implementation of evidence-based practices throughout the instructional program and the training and mentoring of teaching assistants.

4. Assist in mentoring an early career Lecturer in CQS to prepare them for a career in teaching.

Positive factors for consideration include but are not limited to candidates with demonstrated experience in effective teaching at the undergraduate level, quantitative environmental research, use of pedagogical innovation, and/or mentoring of undergraduates.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have demonstrated skills in the application of quantitative methods in environmental sciences. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree, or foreign equivalent, in any subdiscipline of environmental sciences, quantitative sciences, or a related field by the start date of the appointment and a demonstration of teaching ability that evidences promise of a successful career. In addition, candidates must have been the primary instructor for at least two quantitatively-based course offerings at the college level.

Salary:
$8,000-$11,000 per month

3. A two-page summary (maximum) summary of formal teaching evaluations. You may provide as a supplement detailed quantitative and qualitive evaluation data from within the past five years.

4. A two-page (maximum) statement describing demonstrated commitment and activity in support of diversity, equity and inclusion; statement prompt will be provided in the Interfolio application portal.

5. Contact information for three (3) colleagues or supervisors willing to provide a letter of reference. Letters will only be requested during the final review stages.
