Employer Georgia Department of Natural Resources Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills BAT CONSERVATION SEASONAL TECHNICIAN POSITIONSThe Wildlife Conservation Section is offering 2 seasonal positions for summer-fall 2026. The employees will primarily be conducting acoustic surveys for bats throughout Georgia. Applicants must be willing to work for long days (> 10 hours) under physically challenging conditions (e.g., hot days/nights walking through mixed habitats). Activities will include collecting bat acoustic calls using the NABat protocol, downloading and organizing call data, and conducting call analysis using bat call ID programs and visual-vetting. Other activities may include bridge and culvert surveys, bat mist-netting, other small mammal surveys and other work as needed. Travel to study sites will be by state vehicle, and travel expenses will be reimbursed. Lodging will be provided during surveys. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a valid class C driver’s license. Applicants must have some college-level coursework in ecology, wildlife biology, or a related field. Applicants should be in good physical condition and be able to work at night and in hot, humid field conditions where encounters with snakes, alligators, biting insects, etc. are possible. Applicants should be comfortable performing data entry and other computer-based work. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to individuals that have current rabies pre-exposure prophylaxis, have experience with bat mist netting, bat handling and identification techniques, acoustic detectors and bat call identification.
