Job Description:

This position is a Biological Science Technician, GS- 0404-7 working at the Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield for the R4-Georgia Ecological Services Field Office.

This is a term position expected to last 13 months but may be extended up to a total of 4 years at management's discretion.

As a Biological Science Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Managing wildlife openings and supporting managed hunts.
  • Operating data collection stations for white-tailed deer harvested on the installation.
  • Managing sportfish activities and associated habitat.
  • Community education and outreach including fishing events.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification [GS-07]

  1. One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience can include activities such as: (1) conducting activities supporting annual surveys, data collection, and habitat management of game or sportfish species, (2) supporting game stations at a military installation, (3) conducting routine maintenance activities at a wildlife refuge, and/or (4) assisting in wildlife management activities at a state or locally managed facility. NOTE: Your resume must contain sufficient information in these areas to be found qualified. OR
  2. One full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. OR
  3. A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Salary:
$49,025 - $63,733 per year
