Job Description: 
The Jones Center at Ichauway invites applications for the Communications Specialist of the Outreach & Education Team. This position will lead external communications efforts, including social media, digital newsletters, webpage feature articles from photo, video, and content creation to distribution in consultation with the Outreach & Education Coordinator. The position will assist with webpage content and updates, on-site communications, and occasionally, visiting groups. Lastly, the position will assist with the coordination of an ongoing postbaccalaureate program. This position will report to the Outreach & Education Coordinator.

Duties: 
The selected candidate will support the Outreach and Education Team with a variety of projects, including:

  • Digital and printed media development, including, but not limited to, social media, newsletters, publication briefs, outreach materials, and basic webpage content
  • Video production and photography to capture the breadth of the Center’s research, education, and conservation activities
  • Coordination and planning of an ongoing postbaccalaureate program and internal professional development training programs for staff and graduate students
  • Support visiting group logistics, as needed
  • Support internal events management, as needed

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • B.S. or B.A. degree (preferably in communications, journalism, natural resources, or an ecology-related field)
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiar with digital communications platforms and content creation (i.e., webpage content, digital newsletters and articles, social media, video production)
  • A desire to foster a positive workplace culture
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • At least one year of relevant work experience or a M.S./M.A. degree in communications and/or a natural resource or ecology-related field
  • Familiarity or basic knowledge in wildlife ecology, forestry, and/or water resources
  • Experience in social media management and digital content creation

The Jones Center is located on Ichauway, a 30,000-acre property in southwestern Georgia between
Albany and Bainbridge. The Center’s research, education, and conservation programs focus on ecology and
natural resource management. Ichauway contains 18,000 acres of longleaf pine woodlands, 1,000 acres of
wetlands, and 25 miles of stream and river ecosystems. An 18,000 square foot research laboratory houses
scientists’ laboratories, a central analytical laboratory, and two field labs. Further information can be found on
