Job Description:

Westervelt Ecological Services specializes in restoring and conserving wetlands, streams, and endangered-species habitat across the U.S. This paid position aims to support the ecology and land stewardship team in Golden, Colorado.

Duties include:

Providing land management and monitoring assistance for our various conservation sites in the field and office.

Activities include habitat/vegetation monitoring, hydrological monitoring, wildlife surveying, reviewing camera station survey photos, managing invasive species, GPS/GIS mapping, data analysis, and producing technical documents and reports.

 

Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of Colorado flora and fauna, with good identification skills highly desirable.

Well-developed communication and people skills. Ability to

effectively work independently and in a team environment with associates, contractors, landowners, and customers.

Good knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word with effective data management and organizational skills.

Ability to safely operate a 4-wheel drive pickup truck, UTV, and ATV. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Basic map and compass skills, ability to use handheld GPS units, and experience with GIS applications are highly desirable.

Must be a highly motivated, critical thinker able to work in a fast-paced environment. Good physical condition and ability to perform under adverse climatic working conditions and difficult terrain. Successful applicants must enjoy being outdoors. Work schedules and activities are dynamic and often involve changing timelines and long-hour days.

Applicants must be enrolled in classes for the current 2024 and Fall Semester pursuing a degree in forestry, wildlife biology, biology, botany, environmental studies, ecology, or related field.

Salary:
$18.00/hour
