They will also assist with a variety of projects in the documentation, organization, care, and preservation of Park cultural resources. Primary responsibilities will include the identification, inventory, rehousing, and relocation of museum artifacts. Additional duties may be assigned including: Assist with the museum registration, artifact cataloguing and photography Object rehousing and storage case reorganization Assist cultural resources program manager in compliance and research projects involving Park's collection Contribute to Park's interpretive and educational mission by producing public-facing content focused on specific museum objects or collections Evaluate catalog records against NPS cataloging standards and assist in preparation for migration to new collections management system Perform routine museum housekeeping activities such as environmental monitoring and pest management Assist in developing internal archives management plan This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups. Qualifications: Members must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident, as required by U.S. government contracts Willing and able to represent ACE and the partner organization in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner. Ability to be both self-directed/work alone, and be a positive, contributing member of a group. Willing to undergo and must pass the required three-part criminal history check. Preferred: Competitive applicants for the position may hold a degree and/or have experience in museum studies, art history, history, anthropology, heritage management, or a related discipline. Digitization and/or photography skills Education and/or knowledge of museum collection management principles and practices Proficiency with computer software and experience with database management Comfortable with a fair amount of physical activity during day-to-day museum duties and a willingness to "get dirty" with general housekeeping duties. Excellent writing, research, and organizational skills. Has strong organizational skills, be detail-orientated, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects. Effective communication skills with diverse audiences Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions: Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, hiking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. Manual dexterity required for use of various tools, computer keyboard/mouse and other office equipment. Required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch. Ability to walk throughout the historical park. Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus. Miscellaneous: Living Allowance: The ACE Member is expected to contribute ~40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $400/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly.
