Job Description:

The work conducted by the Data Analysis Unit is critical to ensuring that the ambient monitoring data collected by the Ambient Monitoring Program is high quality data. The Data Analysis Unit also evaluates Georgia air quality trends using the ambient air monitoring data. The incumbent in the position will assist with preparing the annual Ambient Air Surveillance Report, annual Ambient Air Monitoring Plan, and Five-Year Network Assessment. The incumbent will assist with writing quality assurance project plans, quality management plans, and editing standard operating procedures for the Ambient Monitoring Program. The incumbent will assist in investigating unusual data points, or Exceptional Events and the effects on air quality, and preparing the documentation to show the data as exceptional as required by EPA. The incumbent will assist in researching and preparing various data analysis projects and documents as needed. The incumbent will assist in providing data as requested by the public, as well as other groups within EPD. In addition, the incumbent will assist with upkeep of the metadata in the national air quality database.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate for this position will have a strong interest in producing written technical documents, ensuring that state and federal quality assurance requirements are met, performing statistical analyses, and the graphical representation of data. Strong writing skills and statistical analysis skills are essential for this position.

Preferred qualifications:

Preference may be given to applicants with experience in writing reports, particularly technical writing.

Preference may be given to applicants with experience performing statistical analysis, particularly coding.                                                                                                        

Preference may be given to applicants with experience in analysis of ambient air data.        

Preference may be given to applicants with GIS/mapping experience.
