Job Description:

The Wildlife Resources Division, Wildlife Conservation Section announces a vacancy for one Data Management Technician. The position will be located at the Wildlife Resources Conservation Center in Social Circle, roughly 45 minutes from Athens and from Atlanta. Carpooling opportunities may be available.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

The person filling this position will be primarily responsible for entry and quality control of rare species, natural communities, and other biological data. Natural Resources Data is managed through Biotics, an advanced geographic information systems-based software tool for managing biodiversity information. There will also be seasonal field work as needed, including work with pollinators. This work will include environmental education, coordination of volunteers, planting and tending gardens, and surveying insects.

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to individuals with experience in wildlife biology, ecology, entomology, botany, or a related field. Other desired qualifications include the following:

1) Experience with data entry

2) Experience using ArcGIS, ArcPro, or related GIS software

3) Some familiarity with Natural Heritage and NatureServe Biotics methodology

4) Interest in Insects and Environmental Education

Miscellaneous:

This is a part-time position working up to but not exceeding 29 hours per week at a pay rate of $14.00 per hour. This position is year-round (not temporary).

 

There may be an option for a six-month position at 40-hours a week.

Salary:
$14/ hour

Benefits:

This is an hourly position. There are no health insurance or retirement benefits.
