Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

•             Provides program and technical advice for the collection, compilation, storage, analysis, reporting, and distribution of strategic annual multi-resource data.

•             Provides technical expertise, staff coordination and consultation in the areas of biometrics, data visualization and analytics, field collection techniques, and data applications.

•             Provides feedback and communicates changes necessary to develop, improve, and enhance the methodologies and databases concerning the extent, content and trends of the nation’s forest resources and other related components.

•             Analyzes work processes and operations to determine the feasibility of upgrading data management programs or implementing new ones.

•             Tests programs to ensure accurate and statistically consistent operation, and identifies problems and bottlenecks in the information management system and makes corrections and improvements.

•             Collaborates and consults on many research and monitoring projects to satisfy the requirements of data users and research scientists.

The Forest Inventory and Analysis Unit (FIA) in the Southern Research Station (SRS) is excited to share the below job announcement for a GS-0401/1301-12 Data Management Supervisor. Please help us fill this position with highly motivated, talented and dynamic individuals committed to our agency’s mission and to the serving the broad FIA user community. This position oversees a diverse range of functions including maintaining, testing, and advising on the development of national FIA databases and applications, as well as summarizing and reviewing FIA estimates in 13 Southern states, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. In addition, the position is the point of contact for SRS FIA data requests and participates on the National FIA Spatial Data Services Team. The position also serves on national FIA Information Management teams and participates in external FIA user meetings.
