Employer Georgia DNR Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills Under limited supervision, duties include, but are not limited to, working intensively with landowners, huntclubs, farmers, media contacts, and others to implement the Deer Management Assistance Prorgam (DMAP).Primary duties include the development of detailed population and habitat management plans, data collectionand analysis, wildlife disease surveillance, administering deer harvest prescriptions, hosting and teachingmanagement seminars, and providing technical guidance on management of deer, turkeys, feral hogs, andpredators.*Must reside in the west central DMAP zone (see blue counties on map at https://georgiawildlife.com/DMAP) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSNRP060 – Wildlife Biologist 1 ($49,969.11 starting salary)Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or university. NRP061 – Wildlife Biologist 2 ($54,966.16 starting salary)Master’s degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or university.ORBachelor's degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or universityANDOne year of related experience.OROne year of experience required at the lower levelWildlife Biologist 1, (NRP060) or position equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPreference may be given to applicants with:• Detailed knowledge relative to the ecology and management of deer and turkey habitats andpopulations in the Southeast• Experience implementing land management activities beneficial to turkeys and deer• Computer software experience (e.g. MSWord, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Teams)• GIS software experience (e.g. ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online)• GA DNR/WRD employment experience.
