Post-doctoral Researcher John is a postdoc on the lab’s black bear research project, focusing on the application of spatial capture-recapture models to estimate abundance and movement of bears in central Georgia. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, a Master’s from the College of Charleston, and a Ph.D. from UGA. John’s professional experience includes time working with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Michigan State University. His research interests and background are primarily in population and conservation genetics, with a focus on application of genetic techniques to inform conservation and management. Recent projects include integrative modeling of postglacial range expansion in green ash, estimation of effective population size in invasive sea lamprey, and applications of environmental DNA in Michigan's wetlands and inland lakes. In his free time, John enjoys live music, sports, and spending time with his wife Kelly and dog Murray. Research Labs/Centers/Committee: Bothwell Conservation Genetics Lab
