Why did you choose your Warnell major?

I had always known I wanted a career in the outdoor industry‚ Nature had always been something that brought me closer to myself and others, and I was passionate about increasing access to our wild spaces. I had originally been pursuing a pre-medicine pathway‚Äîbut my classes failed to spark joy and passion within me. I struggled with finding a place, and it was in my first-year odyssey seminar that I found it. Cultural Heritage Tourism, taught by Dr. Woosnam, showed me that my passion could be a career. Dr. Woosnam reached out to me after I had spoken to him about my concerns, and offered to show me around. After discussing Warnell‚Äôs majors and the community it provided, I knew I had found my place. I changed my major to Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management‚Äîand suddenly, coming to campus felt like coming home.

What's one thing you want your fellow students to know about you?

I'm an avid backpacker! I work at UGA's Outdoor Recreation Center and my past two summers have been spent working on trail crews out west in Arizona and Colorado. This work brings me so much joy and has brought me some of my closest friends!

What's your favorite Warnell memory?

One of my favorite memories with Warnell has to be my time spent on my parks Maymester! It was such a joy to spend two weeks with my peers bonding over our shared love of this program. We go to visit so many interesting places and interact with professionals in the field.
