Philip Chitaunga

Mr. Philip Chitaunga is a Ph.D. student in the area of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management under the supervision of Dr. Bynum Boley. Before joining the doctoral program, Philip worked with Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT) in Tanzania as Acting Director of Tourism for more two years and as Assistant Director responsible for tourism development for 4 years.

He also worked for Tanzania Tourist Board for 7 years as Tourism Services Manager. Tanzania Tourist Board is an autonomous corporate body operating under the MNRT to market Tanzania as preferred tourist destination. Prior to joining the Tanzania Tourist Board, Philip also worked as Senior Tourism Officer at the MNRT for 11 years.

Philip has over 20 years experience in the travel and tourism industry working in the areas of Tourism Destination Marketing and Tourism Development.

Education:

Mr. Chitaunga holds a bachelor's degree in tourism management from Makerere University in Uganda, a certificate in tourism destination management from Brugge, Belgium, and a master's degree in international trade.
