Doctoral Assistantship: NSF-funded research on the socio-environmental past and future of timberlands

Dr. Jesse Abrams at the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources and Savannah River Ecology Laboratory is seeking a prospective doctoral student in Integrative Conservation with an Area of Emphasis in Forestry and Natural Resources. The student will be supported by a National Science Foundation grant funding research on the socio-environmental past and future of timberlands in northern Maine. The start date will be in spring, summer, or fall of 2023.

The doctoral student will receive training in integrative conservation and research and will work closely with partners at the University of Maine and Harvard Forest as well as with key stakeholders in forest industry and both tribal and non-tribal communities of place. Academic training will take place in Athens, Georgia with extensive travel to New England for fieldwork, meetings, and conferences.
