Job Description:

Texas Land Conservancy (TLC) is a nationally accredited 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to the protection of land throughout Texas. You will work with a passionate and dedicated team to expand conservation efforts across the state. This team prides itself on collaboration, enthusiasm, and being the go-to organization for land conservation in Texas. You will get to support conservation efforts by working with private landowners to conserve their land, monitoring existing conservation lands to ensure consistency with conservation restrictions, overseeing and implementing management of TLC’s own nature preserves, and building relationships with the community through workshops, outreach events, and workdays.

You’re tech savvy and can quickly and efficiently complete routine tasks.

 

You’re detail-oriented and enjoy working in a database.

 

You know Texas Flora and Fauna with emphasis on East Texas region (required)

 

You have experience implementing prescribed burns and other land/forest management (strongly preferred).

 

You’re proficient in ArcGIS software, map creation, and GPS use.

 

You’re available for extensive travel with frequent overnight trips (required).

 

You enjoy working remotely and work well independently.

 

You have at least 5 years of related work experience in land conservation or natural resources field.

Miscellaneous:

What you’ll be doing:

 

Stewardship: Connect with landowners and visit TLC’s conservation easement and fee simple properties to document issues and violations.

 

Preserve Management: Develop and implement management plans, identify funding needs, and coordinate projects with volunteers and community partners.

 

Outreach: Build relationships with donors, businesses, volunteers, and area naturalist groups and host strategic events in the region.

 

Communications: Help support TLC’s online presence through social media posts and blog content.

 

Project Evaluation and Recommendations: Evaluate new projects and respond to inquiries from private landowners.

 

Baseline Reports: Prepare reports for new conservation land acquisitions, including GIS mapping and habitat documentation.

Be a team player and work well with TLC staff. Step in to help with special projects.

Salary:
$60,000-$65,000 depending on experience. Salary negotiable with advanced degree or greater experience.

TLC provides a 401k plan.

 

Enrollment in the TLC’s health care plan is covered by TLC.

 

Each regular full-time employee will receive 10 paid holidays, to be based on federal holidays.

 

12 days of vacation per year for employees with less than one year service.

 

TLC provides a $30 /month stipend for employee’s cell phone use.

 

Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
