POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Watershed Protection Department is seeking an experienced design engineer to work in the Project Design and Delivery Branch with an emphasis on stream restoration and erosion mitigation projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for development and design of small erosion and drainage projects to be built by City crews or by contractors through competitive bidding. Applicants should have experience designing and evaluating stormwater management, erosion or flood control projects. Experience using GIS, hydrologic and hydraulic models and MSE Wall Design software is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Engineer A



Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.



Licenses and Certifications Required:

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.



Engineer B



Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus six (6) years of experience in engineering acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.



Licenses and Certifications Required:

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.



Engineer C



Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.



Licenses or Certifications:

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.

  • Design experience preparing construction documents for stream restoration and erosion projects.
  • Hydrologic/Hydraulic modeling experience.
  • Experience using ArcGIS.
  • Construction oversight experience.
  • Able and comfortable conducting site reconnaissance in wooded areas typical of creek environments wearing required PPE and observing all safety rules.
  • Experience with community engagement and public outreach when planning or designing public improvement projects.
