Job Description:

Do you like being outside and teaching kids in a beautiful setting? If so, please read on to learn more about this awesome opportunity to join our team. Fortson 4-H Center in Hampton, GA is hiring environmental education staff for our Spring season (start date of late January). The primary responsibility is to independently lead K-12 grade students through multidisciplinary classes in an outdoor setting. Class subjects offered include life and earth science, ecology, team building, outdoor skills, and living history. Other responsibilities include animal care, maintenance of teaching areas and resources, facilities, grounds, and support of general operations of the facility.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Education, Environmental Education, Forestry, Natural Resources, Outdoor Education, Science, or related field. First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain). Commitment, genuine interest in child development, dynamic personality, well developed communication skills, creativity, and leadership ability • Skill in teaching a wide variety of subjects to K-12 grade youth • Broad knowledge of outdoor education and able to work in an outdoor setting • Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults • Ability to work independently • Ability to work with and care for live teaching animals (reptiles, amphibians, and others) • Willingness to be trained in high and low ropes course facilitation To apply, please fill out the online application (https://www.ugajobsearch.com/postings/314518) and follow up with an email to jordan.parker@uga.edu to confirm receipt of your materials.

Work when exposed to outdoor elements including but not limited to adverse physical and weather conditions. Willing to lift 20-40 pounds and walk approximately 3 miles daily. Be comfortable with heights and to climb a ladder. Driving.

 

Salary:
$13.25/hr
Benefits:

Salary is $13.25/hr (includes a limited insurance policy). Housing is provided for $20/week.

 

Seasonal Staff may also visit and stay overnight for free at 3 other Georgia 4-H Centers. Rock Eagle Center is located in Eatonton, GA. Wahsega 4-H Center is located in the North Georgia Mountains. Burton 4-H Center is on the Atlantic Coast near Savannah on Tybee Island.
