Job Description:

Commitment, genuine interest in child development, dynamic personality, well developed communication skills, creativity, and leadership ability

• Skill in teaching a wide variety of subjects to K-12 grade youth

• Broad knowledge of outdoor education and able to work in an outdoor setting

• Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults

• Ability to work independently

• Ability to work with and care for live teaching animals (reptiles, amphibians, and others)

• Willingness to be trained in high and low ropes course facilitation

Work when exposed to outdoor elements including but not limited to adverse physical and weather conditions. Willing to lift 20-40 pounds and walk approximately 3 miles daily. Be comfortable with heights and to climb a ladder. Driving.

Duties/Responsibilities

Independently lead classes.

Percentage of time 60

Duties/Responsibilities

Maintenance and cleanup of facilities and grounds. Dining hall assistance. General support of overall center operations.

Percentage of time 20

Duties/Responsibilities

Animal care and maintenance of teaching areas.

Percentage of time 15

Duties/Responsibilities

Lead staff responsibilities.

Percentage of time 5

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Education, Environmental Education, Forestry, Natural Resources, Outdoor Education, Science, or related field. First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
