Job Description:

The Environmental Manager 2 position provides geographic information system (GIS) and data analysis support for the branch with occasional field duties described in IDEM's Water Quality Monitoring Strategy. The position supports critical services to the Watershed Assessment and Planning branch such as global positioning system (GPS) unit oversight, map review and map creation, oversight assistance of online spatial tools/applications, and database support to the nonpoint source (NPS) and branch wide programs. The position is also responsible for completing internal and external data requests and serving as a liaison for GIS services for the branch. The position is responsible for assisting with statistical analysis of environmental monitoring data collected by the branch and provides necessary support for ongoing initiatives. The position fills an important role by providing technical support on GPS and GIS services across branch wide programs.

Qualifications:

1-3 years of professional experience in environmental or natural resources science, geography, biology, statistics, or related field. An M.S. degree in any of these fields of study with emphasis on spatial and statistical analysis may substitute for experience. Knowledge or experience with GPS, GIS, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online is highly preferred. Experience using statistical software packages and analyzing environmental and/or spatial data is desired.
