Job Description:

Our Atlanta, GA office has an opening for an Environmental Scientist Intern to support and lead a variety of water resources and field work projects during the summer of 2022. In this position, you will support with water quality sampling, fish electroshocking, plant identification, and other field services as needed.

 

Our Atlanta office is comprised of over 50 professionals, working in a highly collaborative environment, focusing on water resources solutions for local, state, and federal agencies. We are a full-service team that provides project life-cycle solutions through water quality sampling, biological trend monitoring, watershed assessments and planning, best management practice (BMP) recommendations, hydrodynamic and water quality modeling, design (infrastructure, BMPs, stormwater control measures, dams, smart site design), and landscape architecture.

 

Position responsibilities will include:

• Support with field data collection of stream and watershed resources (water quality data, upland vegetation surveys, stream habitat assessments, and/or stream geomorphology)

• Assist with biological monitoring (macroinvertebrates, and/or fish)

• Perform data compilation and analysis

• Support development of descriptive charts, figures/maps, and tables/matrices

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in water resources, environmental science, ecology, or similar field

• Willingness to learn and the ability to follow directions and be safety conscious

• Valid driver’s license and personal transportation to and from field sites

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and interpersonal skills

• Familiarity with water quality and biological sampling techniques, habitat assessments, and/or stream geomorphologic assessments preferred

• Working knowledge in MS Word, MS Excel, and ArcGIS
