Deadline: Sun, 04/30/2023 - 12:00pm Employer: The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Job Field: Fisheries Water and Soil Resources Job Type: Full Time Location: Mississippi Job Description: About the Position This is advanced senior level technical scientific work in the Finfish Bureau of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources with responsibility for providing scientific expertise in the area of marine fisheries management and regulation. The work involves summarizing and analyzing marine fisheries recreational and commercial data, as well as data collected the acoustic telemetry projects executed by the Finfish Bureau. The incumbent assists in planning the development and implementation of long and short-term goals and plans for numerous fishery dependent and independent projects. Supervision is received from a Biological Program Coordinator or Bureau Director. This is a time-limited position. What you'll need to be Successful Successful interaction with members of other local, state, and federal regulatory entities, special interest groups, and the public, and speaking before large and small groups is required. The incumbent provides functional supervision over the field activities of marine fisheries scientists and technicians, provides specialized training, and may provide line supervision in the absence of the supervisor. The work is performed with independence and requires considerable judgment and discretion. Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications Requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience.
