Administer stocking survey and cruise contracts for timber sales and stand based inventory. The position is expected to be 75/25% fieldwork/office work. Warm Springs Forestry is looking for a driven individual with a ‘can do!’ attitude to fill this position. Qualifications: Familiar with using ArcGIS or ArcGIS Pro, ability to learn or use Forest Projection System (FPS), and Microsoft Access and Excel. Strong technical writing skills are a must. Professional knowledge of silviculture, forest entomology and forest pathology, plant physiology, forest soils, and botany to evaluate and successfully reforest areas found on the Reservation. Professional knowledge of cone collection and seed processing on a large scale to ensure enough seed is gathered and maintained to support the reforestation program. Knowledge of conifer species reproduction cycle to properly time harvesting of tree cones for optimal seed yield. Knowledge of natural resource planning, environmental sciences, ecology, silviculture, reforestation, forest inventory and other related fields to assist in preparation of Forest Management and Integrated Resource plans. Knowledge of conifer nursery practices and procedures to ensure for production of desired tree seedlings for regenerating harvested forest sites. Experience in procuring nursery services to produce target seedlings for upwards of 6 to 8 different conifers species used for artificial regeneration Salary: $58,969 – $74,292 per year dependent on experience.
