Forestry and Logging Operations Positions Available

Mainline Natural Resources is a forestry and logging services company based in Asheville, NC.  Mainline is engaged in three sectors of the industry: forest operations consulting, contract timber falling, and logging.  Our consulting work includes forest management, forest certification for sustainability, and steep terrain harvesting consulting.  Our contract timber falling provides safe and professional timber falling on typically steep terrain of oversized and often high-value hardwood timber, we are also engaged as faller mods for wildland fire.  Our logging crew is focused on steep terrain low-impact logging with hand falling, primary extraction through cable with partial suspension, and secondary extraction via log forwarder.  We are hiring for two positions:

Logging Equipment Operator: a dedicated role mostly engaged in daily operation and maintenance of equipment.  Knowledge of hardwood species, basic equipment operating experience, a background in logging, and knowledge of forestry best management practices will be recognized.

Field Operations Technician: a varied role for someone with interest in forestry with a heavy lean on forest and logging engineering and operations support around logging operations.  This technician will be responsible for harvest planning and layout including flagging property lines and roads, scouting timber sales, and preparing harvest plans.  Other duties will include support of the logging crew.  Candidate will be expected to work the rigging and assist in merchandising logs.  Willingness to work the brush and in most weather conditions is required.  Competency with chainsaws is valued.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and transportation.  Mainline maintains a safe respectful workplace, anyone should apply. We are as interested in strong character as we are in specific skills, anyone interested should apply.  Compensation varies depending on experience from $22/hr to $28/hr plus a gear compensation for work related PPE and outerwear.  Mainline is committed to its employees and employee development and we will work with you to build a rewarding position with our company.
