Deadline: Mon, 08/01/2022 - 12:00pm Employer: Forest Stewards Guild Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: New Mexico Location Detail: New Mexico Job Description: Forest Stewards Youth Corps (FSYC) is a program of the Forest Stewards Guild that provides employment and job training for youth in rural communities around New Mexico. FSYC has summer and fall programs with crews based out of U.S. Forest Service Ranger Stations and Jemez Pueblo. Must follow and enforce all FSYC COVID safety protocols. Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 (medical and religious exemption requests will be reviewed and must follow the process outlined in The Guild COVID-19 Policy). ~ Position lasts from August 15th until mid November. Exact dates TBD. ~ Mandatory overnight training in August (1-2 weeks) ~ Will supervise 4 Crew Members. ~ Positions open in Mountainair, Espanola and Jemez Pueblo. ~ No-cost housing available in Mountainair. Qualifications: ~ Experience in a leadership position working with youth. ~ Ability to perform strenuous work outdoors for long hours in rough country and inclement weather. ~ Excellent oral and written communication skills. ~ Ability to work independently. ~ Pass a background check. ~ Possess a valid drivers license and safe driving record. ~ Experience performing natural resource management projects. ~ Must have previous outdoor leadership experience. ~ Preferred candidate will be a qualified Wildland FFT2. Greater preference will be given to candidates qualified as FFT1 and/or that have previous wildland firefighting experience. ~ Must be able to pass an arduous pack test.
