One of the premier programs in the country, our Fisheries and Wildlife major teaches students foundational skills to understand and execute scientifically rigorous management of fish and wildlife populations. This degree program meets the requirements for certification by the American Fisheries Society and The Wildlife Society, which means our graduates are trained to provide professional advice regarding fisheries and wildlife management, and it increases their competitiveness when it comes time to apply for jobs. Graduates of Warnell's programs find a range of opportunities, working as fisheries or wildlife biologists, aquatic ecologists, animal ecologists, environmental consultants, conservation biologists, and wildlife scientists. Many students also spend time after graduation working as part of field crews to gain additional experience, then move on to management positions within agencies or organizations, or continue on to graduate school to further their research.
