Employer GA Department of Natural Resources Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills Under general supervision, performs duties supporting tasks for all phases of warm-water fish culture and operations at Bowens Mill Fish Hatchery including outdoor ponds and indoor tank aquaculture systems. Assists with the construction, operation, and maintenance of complex aquaculture systems including but not limited to: an indoor black bass fry production system, a large indoor recirculating tank system, biofiltration systems, brine shrimp production system, and indoor raceways. Provides technical support of research, surveys, and public waters management projects aimed at protecting, assessing, and improving fisheries of rivers and lakes in Georgia. As assigned, assists with regional R3 efforts, boat ramp maintenance, fish kill investigations, record fish certification, and other duties. Responsible for specific duties involved with vehicle, equipment, building, and grounds maintenance, supplies and materials stocks, custodial care, assist with emergency response efforts, and other duties as required. Work may include weekends and holidays and assisting with Department emergency response efforts. Minimum Qualifications:NRT061-Fisheries Technician 2Associate’s degree in Fisheries Management or a related field from an accredited college or university ORCompletion of equivalent coursework (90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours) in Fisheries Management or a related field from an accredited college or university. ORHigh school diploma or GED ANDTwo years of experience in the Wildlife Resources Division as a Fisheries Technician 1 (NRT060) which included responsibilities in fisheries management. NRT062-Fisheries Technician 3Bachelor’s degree in fisheries management or a related field from an accredited college or university. OR Associate degree in Fisheries Management or a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience required at the lower-level Fisheries Technician 2 (NRT061) or position equivalent. OR Completion of equivalent coursework (90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours) in Fisheries Management or a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience required at the lower-level Fisheries Technician 2 (NRT061) or position equivalent. OR High school diploma or GED AND Two years of experience required in the Wildlife Resources Division as a Fisheries Technician 2 (NRT061). Preferred Qualifications:Preference may be given to current Wildlife Resources Division, Fisheries Management Section personnel.Completion of an Associates degree or higher in Fisheries Management of related field.Fisheries Management and/or hatchery experience.
