Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills

This position serves as the area manager of the Ocmulgee Public Fishing Area and under limited supervision will manage the technical support of research, surveys, and public waters management projects aimed at protecting, assessing, and improving fisheries of lakes on the area. In addition, is responsible for specific duties involved with vehicle, building, and grounds maintenance, supplies and materials stocks, custodial care, and other duties as required, and also supervises others in carrying out these activities. Assists with fish kill investigations, regional hatchery operations, public waters stockings, conducts regional R3 activities and assists with other educational programs, assists with research, surveys, and other important fisheries initiatives. Work may include weekends, nights, and holidays.  May assist with Division’s emergency response efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in fisheries management or a related field from an accredited college or university. 

OR 

Associate degree in Fisheries Management or a related field from an accredited college or university 

AND 

One year of experience required at the lower-level Fisheries Technician 2 (NRT061) or position equivalent. 

OR 

Completion of equivalent coursework (90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours) in Fisheries Management or a related field from an accredited college or university 

AND 

One year of experience required at the lower-level Fisheries Technician 2 (NRT061) or position equivalent. 

OR 

High school diploma or GED 

AND 

Two years of experience required in the Wildlife Resources Division as a Fisheries Technician 2 (NRT061).
