The incumbent will be one of two technicians who will work in rotating multi-day shifts to operate a rotary screw trap located at the University of Idaho's Taylor Ranch Field Station, located within the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Access to Taylor Ranch is by charter plane, with flight costs paid by the Department. Per diem and housing is provided while on duty. Schedule is typically 14 days on followed by 8 to 10 days off, but will vary. Weekend and holiday work is necessary. SHARED CAMPER ACCOMMODATIONS AT PONDEROSA STATE PARK WILL BE AVAILABLE WHEN OFF DUTY OR WORKING LOCALLY. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include: - Handling, identifying, and PIT tagging juvenile salmonids - Maintaining the trap, equipment, and associated databases - Lead in scheduling, arranging flights, and maintaining equipment for a second trap tender at the Big Creek screw trap station Other duties may include: - Assisting with fisheries research and management activities (e.g., gill netting, electrofishing, conducting standard steam and lake surveys, conducting angler interviews) Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree in fisheries, biology, or related field; or equivalent in training and experience. The ability to maintain a positive attitude and uncompromising work ethic through uncomfortable conditions is very important. Individuals with experience in the above listed activities, and experience working independently will be given preference. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license.
