Deadline: Tue, 05/17/2022 - 12:00pm Employer: Mason, Bruce & Girard Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Location: Oregon Location Detail: Portland Job Description: About the Position The Forest Planning Analyst 4 (FA4) leads MB&G’s efforts to prepare forest management plans, economic and policy analysis, inventory and biometrics analysis, and expert witness work and has responsibilities for marketing, business development and client relationships. • Leads the creation of forest planning models that meet client objectives. Responsible for designing, developing, debugging and testing models to ensure that models are technically correct and efficiently designed. • Uses forest planning models to analyze alternatives. Exercises judgment and problem-solving skills as needed. • Provides analytical support to other MB&G projects as assigned. This work often takes the form of data analysis, statistical analysis, and economic analysis. • Acts as project manager for a variety of concurrent projects. Manages project team to ensure that project deliverables are delivered within allotted level of effort, budget and schedule. Acts in a supporting role to other internal project managers. • Leads the preparation of reports summarizing and comparing results. • Assists in ensuring that all project work is fully documented and work files are maintained and archived according to MB&G standards and procedures. • Provides quality assurance and quality control of reports and other deliverables. • Supports MB&G’s efforts to develop new clients and to expand services to existing clients. May assist in project proposal development. • Mentors junior staff by providing technical advice and direction, review of written deliverables, and coaching on career development, time management and conflict resolution. • Assists others in compiling, editing and summarizing inventory and associated GIS data need for modeling. • Performs literature searches and reviews on assigned topics using internet and/or library tools. Distills information into literature review or other formats as necessary. • Performs other duties as assigned. Project Management / Supervisory Responsibility: • Operates independently under minimal supervision. • Functions as Project Manager on moderately difficult to complex projects. • Job may be supervisory as needed to accomplish project-related tasks. • Solid mentoring and team coordination skills. Consistently exhibits strong professional attitude, tact, and diplomacy. Business Development Responsibilities: • Moderate annual sales goals. • Leads proposal development. • Assist with and sometimes leads development of client relationships, participates in business development activities. Qualifications: BS (MS preferred) in forestry, forest management or natural resource related field. • 3-8 years experience in forest resource analysis such as building forest planning models, required. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Advanced technical report writing and editing skills. • Advanced analytical skills. • Intermediate to advanced skills with forest planning software (e.g. Remsoft) and growth modeling software (e.g. FVS). • Intermediate to advanced understanding of modeling concepts and techniques. • Intermediate skills in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access. • Proven ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines. • Strong attention to detail. • Excellent time management skills. • Responsive and client service oriented.
