Deadline: Mon, 01/22/2024 - 12:00pm Employer: Tennessee State University Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: Tennessee Location Detail: Fall Creek Falls State Park, Tennessee Job Description: The Forest Ecology lab at Tennessee State University is looking for two students to work on a USDA-NIFA-funded research focused on the decline of oak and hickory seedling regeneration in upland Appalachian forests. Main duties include censusing seedling, sapling and adult trees in (5) 1-ha forest plots. Familiarity with tree identification, measuring dbh and data entry a plus. When: May 20th - August 1st 2024 Qualifications: Detail-oriented; Willing to work in a team; Coursework in forestry, ecology, plant biology, or related field. Willing to occasionally work long hours; Ability to work in hot and humid conditions, with biting insects. Miscellaneous: Working Conditions: Field conditions include likely getting quite dirty, exposure to uneven terrain, insects, and allergens. Work Schedule: We will work 10 days on and 6 days off.
