Job Description:

We have an immediate full-time opening for a forest management professional with strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills.

 

The Forest Information Systems Specialist will join our central office team in our Lyme, NH office, and participate in a range of forest management support functions. This job will entail periodic travel and independent work in remote forested locations.

 

Key roles:

- Maintain, develop, and update operational and reporting databases and spreadsheets;

- Help design, implement, conduct, and process forest inventories;

- Implement growth and yield modeling and develop forest management plans;

- Analyze data, summarize and communicate conclusions in tabular and text forms;

- Conduct GIS analyses, manage GIS data, and make maps;

- Support and facilitate the work of field foresters and others; and

- Drive continuous system improvement in all of the above.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related field;

- Expertise in understanding, auditing, creating, updating, and improving complex spreadsheets and relational databases;

- Applied experience with Woodstock/Mosek, regional growth and yield models (including FVS), and ESRI GIS products and/or QGIS (ArcGIS Online experience a plus);

- Applicable programming skills;

- Relevant professional experience – preferably in the region and ideally including timber cruising and field forestry operations; and

- Good communication skills – in writing, in person, and by video conference / phone.

Salary:
$55,000 to $85,000 base salary
