Job Description:

Serenbe, a master planned community southwest of Atlanta GA is a one-of-a-kind development built on the values of biophilia and wellness. Densely planned walkable neighborhoods or “hamlets” are enveloped in protected natural areas and forest. We are seeking a qualified individual to work under the supervision of the Director of Grounds and Natural Resources.

This is a full-time, hourly position (Mon-Fri) and eligible for benefits like subsidized health insurance, paid time off, and a 401K.

Job Duties

● Identify and eradicating invasive undergrowth

● Thin forested areas of undesirable tree species

● Maintain open trails with equipment or hand tools

● Blow off trails in the fall to keep them visible

● Install and maintain trail signage and blazes

● Identify the need for additional wayfinding signage

● Solve drainage problems on trails with diversion ditches, drains and culverts

● Lay mulch chips or gravel on trails when needed

● Meet regularly with Grounds Director to report on trail work and conditions

● Lead nature walks and other environmental programming on trails

● Assist with establishing focus areas of native wildflowers, trees and bushes along the forest paths

● Maintain and interpret Native American and early settler cultural sites

Qualifications:

Job Requirements

Ability to identify trees as well as woody native and exotic invasive plant species.

● Experience in equipment operation and manual labor (weedeaters, chainsaws, tractors, bush hog, skid steers, woodchipper and hand tools)

● Leadership and instructional abilities in a work crew setting

● Ability to perform outdoor tasks in a variety of environmental conditions (heat of summer, cold of winter, light rain, etc.)

● Ability to read maps and orient oneself in a wooded setting

● Walking long distances on foot while carrying equipment

Qualifications

Successful candidates will hold a degree or certification in forestry, horticulture, ecology or other related field.
