Forest Practice District Manager

Location: South Puget Sound Region- Enumclaw, WA
Work Hours and Partial Telework flexibility may be available and considered
Relocation Compensation may be available and considered
 

Salary: $7,071.00 - $9,518.00 Monthly

Please note: An additional 5% King County duty station pay has been added to the base salary listed on this announcement.

DNR is looking for a Forest Practices District Manager to lead a team of professional individuals that administer multiple RCW’s and WAC’s that protect natural resources, while promoting a viable timber industry.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supervising all functions and staff related to the Region-wide forest practice program. It has Region-wide responsibilities, including forest practices office processing and field operations. The functions managed include processing forest practice permits, compliance, enforcement, and stakeholder training. This position is responsible for tracking program deliverables, monitoring, making budget recommendations, and coordinating with applicable Division staff

Required Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related natural sciences field, AND (5) five years of relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of forest management objectives, timber management planning, and silvicultural principles.
  • Knowledge of the Washington SEPA process, Forest Practices rules, laws, and practices, and associated agency policies.
  • Knowledge of logging and forest road construction practices and technology.
     

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current knowledge of forest practice statutes, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, agency practices, and general forest management theory (such as forest fire prevention and suppression techniques, forest health issues, silviculture, logging and forest road construction equipment and use, hazardous fuels reduction techniques, and public relations).
  • Knowledge of agency business practices, particularly related to forest practices.
  • Knowledge of agency policies, practices, and procedures.
