JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Renewable Resource Solutions is seeking a Forest Products Specialist for a full-time, in-person position based in Crystal Falls, Michigan. Travel is required. This position is open until the right candidate is found. Salary will be determined based on experience.

Renewable Resource Solutions, LLC, (RRS) established in 2001, is a small business based out of Crystal Falls, Michigan and serves clients in the Great Lakes region and nationwide. RRS provides natural resource consulting services to a diverse clientele including private landowners, industry, NGOs, municipalities, tribal governments,

and state and federal agencies, with an emphasis on small to medium-sized forest industry companies. RRS has expertise specifically in the forestry industry ranging from urban wood utilization to habitat restoration to forest products marketing. RRS also specializes in non-profit and association management and administers organizations focused on regenerative agriculture and water quality as well as multiple-use forestry and forest products. RRS highly values both people and the land, and believes that sustainable management is best achieved through the integration of environmental, economic and social interests.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Forest Products Specialist provides consulting services to a diverse clientele to support, improve and grow the forest products industry. Current areas of focus include marketing and utilization of both traditional and urban forest products, harvesting, processing and manufacturing process improvement, industry association and cooperative assistance, market development, and feasibility assessments. Focus

area evolve with emerging issues in forest products.

 

RRS plays a unique role in the forest products sector by collaborating with private and public stakeholders and by bringing a broad knowledge of the forest industry to issues at hand. Possessing or having a willingness to acquire a working knowledge of forest management, harvest operations, transportation logistics, and forest products manufacturing and marketing, as well as staying abreast of current legislation

is necessary.

 

The successful candidate will be based out of Crystal Falls, Michigan, with the potential to work semi-remotely (within the Great Lakes region) after an undetermined period, depending on the company’s needs and the candidate’s performance and abilities. The working conditions of this position vary depending on ongoing projects. The candidate will be primarily office-based but will be expected to travel regionally and nationally as needed for activities including field forestry site visits, mill and other industry facility site visits, inventory assessments, meetings, conferences, etc.

 

This is a unique position in the private sector and will require individuals to be self-motivated, adaptive, and have the ability to seek and obtain grant funding.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess the following required qualifications to be eligible for this position:

-Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry or related field. Broad experience and/or knowledge in the forest products industry, including in forest management, timber sale setup and administration, forest inventory, forest products utilization and marketing,

forest industry business management and development, and forest products market development.

 

-Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

 

-Be collaborative with internal staff and external clients and partners.

 

-Willingness to travel regionally and nationally, as needed.

 

-Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.

 

-Pass a background check prior to an offer of employment.

Salary:
Starting pay is $45,00 to $80,000 annually

Benefits:

Pay will be dependent on experience and the ability to secure funding through grants and contracts. RRS will consider candidates of all experience levels.

 

This position includes a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, vacation, sick leave, and retirement benefits.

 

A 3 to 12-month probationary period may be required.
