Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills FRC is seeking a Forest Technician based in Quitman, Mississippi, to support forest management operations throughout central Mississippi. The technician will assist account managers with forest management, timber inventory, timber sales, and related assignments. This role offers broad field experience across diverse client-owned properties while supporting FRC's delivery of high-quality, cost-effective forestry consulting services.Job ResponsibilitiesWillingness to travel primarily throughout central Mississippi and, on occasion, elsewhere in the southeastern United States to support forest management operations and related projects.Conduct timber inventory sampling using established cruise specifications and procedures.Assist with timber sale preparation, including marking timber sale boundaries, Streamside Management Zones (SMZs), and other designated areas as required.Monitor contract operations and scheduled forest management activities to evaluate progress and compliance with contract requirements.Conduct field inspections of forest management activities for compliance with applicable Best Management Practices (BMPs), governmental requirements, client objectives, and FRC procedures.Assist with inspections of reforestation and other silvicultural activities, including site preparation, planting, survival assessments, herbaceous weed control, and other treatments as required. Conduct timber sale inspections and document harvest progress, field conditions and observations.Collect GPS data and other field observations of property boundaries, stand conditions, roads, stream crossings, access points, and other property features. Effectively communicate field observations, potential issues, and changes in property or stand conditions to the appropriate FRC staff.Assist with the timely completion of special projects and other assignments.Promote a positive image of FRC with clients, associates, contractors, landowners, and the public. Position RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in forestry, forest technology, natural resources, or a related field preferred.One to three years of forestry or related natural resources field experience is preferred but not required; relevant training will be provided. Comfortable working independently outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions and terrain. Proficiency using basic computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.General familiarity with use of forestry field equipment, GPS and GIS applications, electronic data collection systems, and related technology to complete work tasks.Valid driver's license and reliable four-wheel-drive transportation.
