Job Description:

Acorn Forestry is a full-service forest management consultant and service provider, staffed by professional foresters and wildlife biologists, actively working in all the Western Gulf States.  We offer a wide variety of professional and operational services to meet the needs of our clients, including:   

  • Land and Timber Management
  • Timber Sale Administration and Supervision
  • GIS, Mapping and Database Maintenance                             
  • Wildlife Management
  • Wildland Firefighting
  • Property Maintenance and Protection
  • Reforestation Operations
  • Mid-Rotational Treatments

Work Environment:

This is primarily a field position.  Field activities may be physically demanding and are often conducted in harsh environmental conditions including temperature extremes, smoke, dust, swamps, insects, snakes, rough topography, and brush.

Qualifications:

We serve a full range of industrial, institutional, and private landowners, consultants, and forest products corporations with an emphasis on professionalism, quality, and accountability.  As a forester with Acorn, you will be responsible for the quality, efficiency, and profitability of a wide range of silviculture and forest management activities.  You will be expected to plan, supervise, and execute forest management activities, including property inspections with landowners, creating timber management plans, activity layout and logistics, supervision of field personnel, safety, and completion of project documentation.  


Other Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Wildlife, Range Management or related field
  • Experience: Related field experience preferred, but not necessary
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good written and oral communication skills  
  • Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.
  • Basic GIS and GPS knowledge
  • Adaptable to a wide range of forestry activities
  • Ability to supervise field personnel & manage logistics
  • Some overnight travel is required
  • Ability to obtain a valid Texas class C driver license
